Trans Canada Trail

The Trans Canada Trail (TCT) is a
multi-use trail that will link all of Canada's provinces and
territories together. The main purpose of the Trans Canada Trail
is to showcase this great country and the diversity of communities within it, and teach people about the environment and the
history of Canada.
Building the Trans Canada
Trail is the responsibility of the communities and regions through
which it passes. Discovery Routes is an agent for the Trans
Canada Trail through this region. Working together with partners
across the region, the provincial representatives for the TCT and the
TCT Foundation, we have identified a route for the trail and continue
to work towards the goal of completing the trail system by 2010.
Our current focus is the
section of TCT between Callander and Commanda. The project is a
major undertaking as it involves a variety of terrain in a highly
rural setting. The pictures below tell some of the story.
The highly anticipated completion of the link is expected by the spring of
2008.
Discovery Routes would like to thank
the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation, the Trans Canada
Trail Foundation and the Municipality of Callander for their generous
support of the project.

You can be a part of this historic
project through donations to Trans Canada Trail!
Every $50 donation helps build
one meter of the trail. With each $50 donation, a name of your
choosing (your own, family member, pet, school, company, etc.) will be
inscribed on one of the pavilions located across the country, in the
province of your choosing. Along with this inscription, you will
receive an official Trail certificate, a tax receipt, and an annual
newsletter that will keep you up-to-date on the happenings of the
Trans Canada Trail. Each
$400 donation allows a message to be inscribed on one of the Trans
Canada pavilions.
Throughout Canada, the
provincial responsibility for the Trans Canada Trail lies with various
agencies and committees. Please visit these Provincial sites for
